Photoconsortium, international consortium for photographic heritage, is a non-profit association created in 2014 with the aim to promote European culture and image heritage. It currently has about thirty members, among which there are archives, public institutions, private agencies and collectors from all over Europe, as well as about twenty experts who are individual members.
The consortium has the will to create a space among its members and offer them digital tools to facilitate the online sharing of their funds and collections. Since its creation, Photoconsortium has established itself as the main aggregator of photographs to Europeana, the European Digital Library. Through its search engine and various thematic collections carefully curated by the consortium, this platform invites researchers, students and photography enthusiasts to explore more than 2.5 million images shared by its members.
Since 2021, INSPAI, Image Center of the Girona Provincial Council, is member of Photoconsortium and is working on reviewing its funds with a view to soon making them available to the international public.
