ACCESS AND BORROWING SERVICE

The Photographic and Audiovisual Materials Access & Borrowing Service acts as an intermediary between document creators and users by supporting the spread of information and documents according to each user’s needs, in a social and digital environment.

The Service answers queries about its collections, including bibliographic resources and newspaper and periodical holdings. It also oversees reproduction services and temporary loans of originals.

Rules on access to services are set by the Girona Provincial Council’s Regulation on the Image Centre and Document Management.

You can access the collections of the Archive of the INSPAI Image Centre, as well as the book and newspaper & periodical collections focused on images in person, or online at this link.

In-person Access

INSPAI provides a reading room that is open to the public where, by appointment, items from the collections can be used in person.

Reproduction Requests

If you are interested in publishing or reproducing images from the INSPAI collections, you can make a request on the website or by contacting the Service directly.

Once your request is approved, an agreement will be signed between the requester and INSPAI that will address the payment of image use fees (if not exempt), according to the purposes set out in the request. Fees and credits can be found in the Financial Ordinance currently in force.

Payment of or exemption from fees does not relieve the requester of obligations under intellectual property rights that may be held by third parties. It is the requester's responsibility to secure the appropriate permissions from the creator or rights holders before publishing the images.

Temporary Loans of Originals

Entities and institutions can request temporary loans of originals for display in exhibitions, in accordance with INSPAI regulations on the preservation of photographic and audiovisual heritage.
