Quim Giró Collection
This collection comprises 82 photographs, all studio portraits by photographers such as Pau Font and Domènec Bosch from Figueres; Amis Unal, Joaquim Massaguer and Reina i Barrera from Girona; Barcelona photographers Cantó, Adrien Cordiglia and Rafael Areñas; and other photographers from Belgium and France.
Of the 82 photographs, 13 are 13x18 negatives on glass plate, and 69 are black and white positives, with albumen or collodion emulsions on paper with a cardboard mount. These «cartes de visite» are in notably good state of conservation.
The photographs entered the archive in 2006. The set complements the interesting subject of early photography in Girona province, together with Emili Massanas i Burcet's research on the first photographers in the province, particularly in Girona and Figueres.
