Pius Pujades, pseudonym of Josep Pujadas Lladó (Girona, January 8, 1938), is a Catalan journalist, teacher and writer. As a journalist, in 1979 he founded, with Just M. Casero, Punt Diari, a Catalan daily newspaper which he ran between 1980 and 1982. He founded and oversaw the magazine L¿Abella d¿Or (second phase) from 1990 to 1991, and was director of the newspaperDiari d¿Andorra (1991-1992). As a writer, his works include Girona gris i negra (Girona Gray and Black) (1972), written with N. J. Aragon, J. M. Casero and J. Guillamet; Trenta cares, trenta creus i una de ¿canto¿ (1972, reissued 2009); El barrets de Presència (1973); Cinc apunts cal·ligràfics d¿una Girona compartida amb Josep Perpinyà (1978); Francesc Ferrer: la batalla de la llengua (1988); Girona, grisa i negra, després de 27 anys (1999); Demà será diumenge (2007); Pessebre amb figures (2007), and Memória d¿Ifni (2008). He has also written stories, and among others has won the Anabasis Award (1957) for Correo de la Noche and the Government of Andorra Prize (2000) for Pessebre amb figures. As for the theater, he is the author, with the journalist Jordi Soler, of La llum del quarto fosc, which was ¿awarded¿ with six months and a day in prison. He has also written several film scripts for director Jordi Lladó (La mare, Amor adolescente, És ben dificíl de matar el petit monstre que tots portem dintre, Un laberinto); as well as for television (for the program Tot art on TVE) and radio (Dreceres de la nostra llengua on Radio Girona). He has been a correspondent, editor and collaborator forLos Sitios, Usted, Ràdio Girona, Solidaridad Nacional, El Correo Catalán, Revista Europa, Primer Acto, Tele/eXprés, Serra d¿Or, Tele-estel, Presència and El País. As a teacher, he has worked in Gombrèn, Palamós, Girona, Pineda, Bolvir and Encamp. He is also the author of two blogs, El bloc de Pius Pujades (The blog of Pius Pujades) and Pictólits - Pintura sobre còdols polits del mar (Painting on polished sea pebbles) (2012-2017).

The Pius Pujades fonds and collection is a photographic fonds and a private personal collection owned by Josep Pujadas Lladó, author of the photographs that make up the fonds and collector of the images by different authors that make up the collection. The fonds and collection are the result of the owner¿s professional and amateur photography activity. Both the fonds and the collection are kept at the private home of the owner. In the fourth quarter of 2013, the contents of the Pius Pujades fonds were described by documentary unit in a database belonging to the archive. The photographs were grouped and renamed, and described and documented according to INSPAI criteria. The photographs were installed by format. The fonds was digitized from image 189, as some photographs had already been digitized. The state of preservation of the photographs is generally quite good. The support material and emulsion are in good condition and the iconographic image shows no loss. Dirt and some scattered fungus has not contaminated the fonds as a whole.

Details of entry

On April 24, 2012, Josep Pujadas Lladó contacted the Diputació de Girona regarding a document proposing the transfer of the fonds and the collection with Diputació de Girona general registration number 04725. His intention was to make an easy transfer of the fonds and the collection, kept at his home, to make them known and publicly available. The personal fonds and collection were acquired on June 19, 2012, according to an assignment agreement under a convenience regime between INSPAI, Centre de la Imatge of the Diputació de Girona, and Josep Pujadas Lladó.

Scope and content

The Pius Pujades personal fonds and collection are from between 1960 and 1970, and consist of approximately 1,050 photographs. It is a private fonds, the result of the transferor¿s professional and amateur work as a photographer. The personal collection consists of approximately 791 photographs. The collection is the result of the compilation of photographs, about 259, which brings together a series of diverse and prominent photographers such as Miquel Ruiz, Joan Comalat, Dani Duch, Jofre, Joan Castro, Narcís Sans, Acticni, Jordi Soler, Foto Poch (Pineda), Meli, Foto Domènech, Laboratorio Fotogràfic Styl (Girona), Foto Cine Mas (Lloret), Pep Iglesias, Leandro Navarro, Vázquez Berni, Foto Ramblas, M. Faixat Encisa, T. Cabestero, Vicente Salas, Santiso, Josep Puvill, Antoni Catany, Colita, Conceneric, L. Carrera (Santa Coloma), Garcia Garrabella and Cia. (Girona), Jean Roig, Pablito, Blasi Domenech, Michel Coupeau (The Independent), Photo Cine Lloses, Marcel Villier, Jordi Batiste, Carlos Cid, Galé, J. Borrell, Garcia Pons (FG Estudi), Zerkowitz, Multigraf Terni, J. J. Sister, A. Campaña and J. Puig Ferran. The geographical scope of the photographs is mainly in Girona and Barcelona counties, with such interesting subject matter as views and landscapes of places and different localities, such as the Costa Brava and the city of Girona, and well-known people, social photography, etc. Noteworthy among the municipalities are images of Alguer, Barcelona, Begur, Bescanó, Bisbal d¿Empordà, Blanes, Cadaqués, Castell-Platja d¿Aro, L¿Escala, Figueres, Girona, Granollers, Lyon, Lloret de Mar, Malgrat de Mar, Olot, Palafrugell, Palamós, Paris, Pineda de Mar, Port de la Selva, Portbou, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Sant Pol de Mar, Tordera, Torroella de Montgrí, Ullastret and Vilobí d¿Onyar, among others Important photographic reports include images of the outings and activities of schoolchildren from Sant Jordi School in Pineda de Mar, the Festa Major street festival in Blanes, the Mercè festivities (Barcelona), the road of shame in Bescanó, and floods in different towns.
