Archive history
Pep Iglésias' personal collection came to the Diputació de Girona through INSPAI, Centre de la Imatge, in 2017. The collection was previously stored in the photographer's own house, organised in ring binders with a descriptive index of the topics or reports contained in each folder.
After the collection was transferred, INSPAI started work on the conservation, digitalisation and description of the items in the collection, which will be carried out over a number of years.
Details of entry
The personal collection was transferred on 17 October 2017, as recorded in the loan agreement and the subsequent donation.

Scope and content
This personal collection brings together the work that Pep Iglésias created during his career as a photographer and photojournalist.
It consists of an approximate total of 124,000 images, 54,000 of which are 35 mm format plastic analogue negatives, and 70,000 of which are digital photographs.
85% of the collection is in black and white, and the remaining 15%, in colour.
The period covered runs from 1979 to 2016, and the areas included are the counties of Girona, the rest of Catalonia, Spain and the rest of the world, with images from countries such as Morocco, France and China.
The most important themes are events taking place in the Girona region, captured thanks to Iglésias' role as a photojournalist, and artistic and landscape photography carried out on his own initiative or commissioned by advertising or communication companies.
It contains interesting reports, such as those on some official visits, studies of artists, the indiscreet window, which captures daily life in Plaça de la Constitució (now Plaça de l'1 d'Octubre) in Girona, and work on the refurbishment of the new Generalitat de Catalunya headquarters in the former Santa Caterina hospital.
