21ST EDITION OF THE YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHERS OF CATALONIA AWARD

INSPAI Centre de la Imatge, a public service attached to the Department of Culture, New Technologies, Sports and Education of the Diputació de Girona, announces the 21st edition of the Young Photographers of Catalonia Award. This award aims to promote and disseminate the photographic works of young photographers in Catalonia.

This commitment to photographic creation is one of INSPAI’s objectives, together with, on the one hand, making the public more aware of all the aspects of photography so that they can enjoy current trends in photographic production and, on the other hand, offering municipalities cultural opportunities in the form of travelling exhibitions.

The Diputació will select one photographic project from among all those submitted. The project will be provided with the necessary resources for it to be exhibited, for a catalogue to be published and for the exhibition to travel. A gross prize of 1,250.00 euros will be awarded to the selected project (subject to personal income tax deductions in force at the time of payment of the prize).

20TH YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHERS OF CATALONIA AWARD

The photographic project “Paredadors i pedrers, en perill d’extinció. Menorca, paisatge de pedra seca, un patrimoni cultural” (Stonemasons and quarrymen, in danger of extinction. Menorca’s dry stone landscape, a cultural heritage), by Anna Lofi, was the winner of the last edition of the Young Photographers of Catalonia Award.

Photographer Anna Lofi (López Figueras) won the twentieth edition of the award with a project that links territory, nature and tradition.

This exhibition consists of thirty high-quality colour photographs that, in the form of a photographic report, highlight the art of dry stone and bring this ancestral technique, which was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2018, closer to the public.
